AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
H.B. 3730 addresses the lack of a central directory for state agency email addresses in Texas. This bill would add email addresses to the state agency directory.
H.B. 3730 amends current law relating to the directory of users of the centralized telephone service for entities in the capitol complex.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. Amends Section 2170.059, Government Code, by amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (e), as follows:
(d) Requires each using entity, not later than October 1 of each year, to, in a manner determined by the Department of Information Resources (DIR), provide DIR with an e-mail address for each person who uses the centralized telephone service.
(e) Requires DIR, not later than December 31 of each year, to prepare and issue a revised centralized telephone service and e-mail directory. Deletes existing text requiring DIR to annually prepare and issue a revised centralized telephone service directory not later than March 31.
SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2023.
