A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the confidentiality of certain information held by the |
|
|
Texas Education Agency. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 552, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 552.1178 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 552.1178. CONFIDENTIALITY OF CERTAIN INFORMATION |
|
|
MAINTAINED BY TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY. (a) In this section, |
|
|
"educator" has the meaning assigned by Section 5.001, Education |
|
|
Code. |
|
|
(b) Information maintained by the Texas Education Agency |
|
|
that relates to the home address, home telephone number, personal |
|
|
cell phone number, personal e-mail address, driver's license |
|
|
number, emergency contact information, date of birth, or social |
|
|
security number of an educator, or that reveals whether an educator |
|
|
has family members, is confidential and excepted from the |
|
|
requirements of Section 552.021. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
