A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the jurisdiction of the statutory county courts of |
|
|
Grayson County in family law matters. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 25.0932, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (b) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(a) In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section |
|
|
25.0003 and other law, a county court at law in Grayson County has: |
|
|
(1) original concurrent jurisdiction with the justice |
|
|
court in all civil and criminal matters over which the justice court |
|
|
has jurisdiction; and |
|
|
(2) concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in |
|
|
family law cases and proceedings. |
|
|
(b) The district clerk serves as clerk of a county court at |
|
|
law in family law cases and proceedings, and the county clerk serves |
|
|
as clerk of the court in all other cases. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
