A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to state agency reports submitted to the legislature. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 2052.0021, Government Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) Notwithstanding a law that requires a state agency to |
|
|
submit a report to the legislature for an indefinite period, a state |
|
|
agency: |
|
|
(1) is not required to submit the report to the |
|
|
legislature after the 10th anniversary of the date the state agency |
|
|
first submitted the report to the legislature; and |
|
|
(2) shall state in each report submitted under the law |
|
|
requiring the report the date after which the agency is not required |
|
|
to submit the report to the legislature as provided by Subdivision |
|
|
(1). |
|
|
(f) A state agency that elects not to submit a report to the |
|
|
legislature as authorized by Subsection (e)(1) shall notify the |
|
|
Texas State Library and Archives Commission, in a form and manner |
|
|
prescribed by the commission, that the state agency has elected not |
|
|
to submit the report. The notice must be provided not later than the |
|
|
date the report would otherwise be due. The commission shall |
|
|
maintain a publicly available list of the reports state agencies |
|
|
have elected not to submit under Subsection (e). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
