A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the participation of community-based organizations in |
|
workforce training programs funded by the skills development fund. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 303.003, Labor Code, is amended by |
|
amending Subsection (h) and adding Subsection (h-1) to read as |
|
follows: |
|
(h) A community-based organization may apply for money to |
|
participate in a training program if: |
|
(1) the organization applies [only] in partnership |
|
with a community and technical college or the Texas A&M Engineering |
|
Extension Service; or |
|
(2) at least 90 days before the date the organization |
|
applies, the organization submitted to a community and technical |
|
college or the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service a written |
|
request for a partnership with the college or service and has been |
|
unable to obtain the partnership. |
|
(h-1) If a [A] community-based organization that applies |
|
for funding under Subsection (h) provides [providing] services |
|
regulated by the state, the organization shall provide to the |
|
commission evidence of any certification, license, or registration |
|
required by law. |
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
to an application for money from the skills development fund |
|
submitted to the Texas Workforce Commission on or after the |
|
effective date of this Act. An application submitted before the |
|
effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the |
|
date the application was submitted, and the former law is continued |
|
in effect for that purpose. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
