A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the installation and operation of electric vehicle |
|
|
charging stations installed or funded by the Texas Department of |
|
|
Transportation. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 203, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 203.113 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 203.113. INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF CERTAIN |
|
|
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS. The department shall ensure |
|
|
that an electric vehicle charging station installed or funded by |
|
|
the department: |
|
|
(1) is capable of sending and receiving information |
|
|
through a communications network; |
|
|
(2) is capable of responding to a signal from the |
|
|
electric grid by: |
|
|
(A) starting or stopping a charge; or |
|
|
(B) increasing or decreasing the rate of |
|
|
electricity flow; and |
|
|
(3) has at least one user interface that allows a user |
|
|
to operate the charging station in accordance with Subdivisions (1) |
|
|
and (2). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
