A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to requiring public junior colleges to award course credit |
|
to students who hold a Child Development Associate credential. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 130, Education Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 130.0107 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 130.0107. CREDIT FOR COMPLETION OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT |
|
ASSOCIATE CREDENTIAL. In accordance with rules adopted by the |
|
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, a public junior college |
|
shall award at least six semester credit hours or the equivalent to |
|
a student enrolled in the junior college who holds a Child |
|
Development Associate (CDA) credential. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 |
|
academic year. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
