A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|

|
relating to a conveyance of real property subject to an unexpired |
|
|
residential lease. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 92, Property Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 92.0092 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 92.0092. CONVEYANCE OF REAL PROPERTY SUBJECT TO |
|
|
UNEXPIRED RESIDENTIAL LEASE. Except as otherwise provided by |
|
|
federal law, if real property subject to an unexpired residential |
|
|
lease is conveyed, the person to whom the property is conveyed |
|
|
assumes the lease for the remainder of the lease term. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
