A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to meetings of a county election board. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 51.002, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsections (d) and (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) A meeting of the county election board shall be: |
|
|
(1) held in person or virtually through the Internet; |
|
|
and |
|
|
(2) open to the public. |
|
|
(e) Not later than 48 hours before each meeting of the |
|
|
county election board, the county clerk shall post notice of the |
|
|
meeting on the county's Internet website, if the county maintains a |
|
|
website. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
