A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of the broadband development office to |
|
|
award grants for certain facilities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 490I.0106, Government Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), the office: |
|
|
(1) shall evaluate making awards to expand statewide |
|
|
access to broadband service to facilitate communications with: |
|
|
(A) entities operating critical water or |
|
|
wastewater facilities, as defined by Section 418.0425; |
|
|
(B) entities operating public safety answering |
|
|
points, as defined by Section 771.001, Health and Safety Code; and |
|
|
(C) public safety agencies, as defined by Section |
|
|
771.001, Health and Safety Code; and |
|
|
(2) may award grants to expand the access described by |
|
|
Subdivision (1). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
