A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the operation of a motor vehicle at an intersection with |
|
|
a stop sign. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 544.010(c), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) An operator required to stop by this section shall stop |
|
|
at a clearly marked stop line [before entering the crosswalk on the |
|
|
near side of the intersection]. In the absence of a clearly marked |
|
|
stop line [crosswalk], the operator shall stop before entering the |
|
|
crosswalk on the near side of the intersection [at a clearly marked |
|
|
stop line]. In the absence of a clearly marked stop line or |
|
|
crosswalk, the operator shall stop at the place nearest the |
|
|
intersecting roadway where the operator has a view of approaching |
|
|
traffic on the intersecting roadway. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
