A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the allocation of money by the Texas opioid abatement |
|
|
fund council. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 403.509, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) A portion of the money allocated by the council under |
|
|
Subsection (a)(1)(B) shall be allocated to the Texas Department of |
|
|
Criminal Justice for the purpose of providing programming and |
|
|
treatment to prisoners with a history of opioid addiction. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to an allocation of money made on or after the effective date of |
|
|
this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
