A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to cooperation with other states to maintain voter |
|
|
registration lists. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. The heading to Section 18.062, Election Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 18.062. INTERSTATE VOTER REGISTRATION COOPERATION |
|
|
[CROSSCHECK PROGRAM]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 18.062(b), Election Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(b) A system developed under this section: |
|
|
(1) may not involve participation in the Electronic |
|
|
Registration Information Center program; and |
|
|
(2) must comply with the National Voter Registration |
|
|
Act (52 U.S.C. Section 20501 et seq.). |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
