A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to temporary motor vehicle tags issued for vehicles sold |
|
|
by nonprofit organizations. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 503.063(j), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(j) A vehicle purchased at a public auction may be issued |
|
|
and display a buyer's tag without satisfying the inspection |
|
|
requirements of Chapter 548 if: |
|
|
(1) the vehicle is [purchased at public auction in |
|
|
this state and is]: |
|
|
(A) [(1)] an antique vehicle as defined by |
|
|
Section 683.077(b); or |
|
|
(B) [(2)] a special interest vehicle as defined |
|
|
by Section 683.077(b) that: |
|
|
(i) [(A)] is at least 12 years of age; and |
|
|
(ii) [(B)] has been the subject of a retail |
|
|
sale; or |
|
|
(2) the seller of the vehicle is a nonprofit |
|
|
organization. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
