A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a one-year moratorium on the collection of tolls. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 372, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 372.059 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 372.059. ONE-YEAR TOLL MORATORIUM. (a) |
|
|
Notwithstanding any other law, a toll project entity may not charge |
|
|
a toll for use of a toll project between September 1, 2023, and |
|
|
August 31, 2024. |
|
|
(b) The department shall make all required payments on all |
|
|
obligations of a toll project entity that are payable from or |
|
|
secured by revenues of a toll project, including bonds or interest |
|
|
on those bonds. |
|
|
(c) This section expires September 1, 2024. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
