A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility of service members and veterans to |
|
|
participate in a veterans treatment court program. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 124.002, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) The attorney representing the state may not require a |
|
|
defendant to waive the possibility of the full expunction of the |
|
|
defendant’s record as a condition of the attorney’s consent for the |
|
|
defendant to participate in the veterans treatment court program. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
