A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to public school system accountability. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 39A.111, Education Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 39A.111. CONTINUED UNACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE RATING. |
|
|
If a campus is considered to have an unacceptable performance |
|
|
rating for five consecutive school years the commissioner, subject |
|
|
to Section 39A.112, may [shall] order: |
|
|
(1) appointment of a board of managers to govern the |
|
|
school district as provided by Section 39A.202; [or] |
|
|
(2) closure of the campus; or[.] |
|
|
(3) any action authorized under Section 39A.002. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the |
|
|
legislative session. |
