CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Kenneth B. Nolen is being inducted into the |
|
Petroleum Hall of Fame on April 30, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in October 1967, the Petroleum Hall of |
|
Fame recognizes individuals who have made outstanding |
|
contributions to the development of the petroleum industry; and |
|
WHEREAS, Kenneth Nolen graduated from Texas A&M University in |
|
1957 with a degree in mechanical engineering; shortly thereafter, |
|
he joined Shell Oil Company as a production engineer, and he worked |
|
there for more than a decade; in 1970, he partnered with Sam G. |
|
Gibbs to form Nabla Corp., and he helped grow the business to design |
|
and diagnose hydraulic and submersible pump systems, as well as |
|
build digital dynamometers, pump-off controls, and fluid level |
|
instruments; Mr. Nolen again joined with Mr. Gibbs in 2014 to found |
|
GreenShot LLC, which specialized in automated well fluid level |
|
technology; in 2018, the company was sold to WellWorx Energy; and |
|
WHEREAS, An expert in his field, Mr. Nolen has eight patents, |
|
and he has written numerous textbooks and technical papers on |
|
artificial lift; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his hard work and commitment to innovation, |
|
Kenneth Nolen has distinguished himself as a successful and |
|
influential figure in an industry that is such a vital part of the |
|
Texas economy, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious honor; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby congratulate Kenneth B. Nolen on his induction into the |
|
Petroleum Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Nolen as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives and Senate. |
