R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Haskell L. Simon of Bay |
|
City were deeply saddened by his passing on August 26, 2020, at the |
|
age of 87; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Bay City, Haskell Simon was born to Aaron |
|
and Sonia Simon on August 29, 1932; he graduated from Texas A&M |
|
University and went on to serve in the U.S. Army, eventually |
|
retiring at the rank of captain; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of a multifaceted career, Mr. Simon |
|
worked in engineering, rice farming, and cattle ranching, and he |
|
also operated a restaurant; additionally, he served with |
|
distinction on a number of local boards and was a tireless advocate |
|
for water conservation in Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Haskell Simon was known for his unwavering |
|
dedication to the community and his steadfast loyalty to his |
|
friends, and he will forever be a source of inspiration to those he |
|
leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Haskell L. Simon and |
|
extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
sister, Beatrice Simon Franzel, and her husband, Gerald; to his |
|
niece, Dee Mintz, and her husband, Steven; to his nephews, Michael |
|
Franzel and his wife, Sue, and Aaron Franzel and his wife, Ellen; |
|
and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Haskell |
|
Simon. |
