R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Federation of Korean Associations USA is
  celebrating Korean American Day on January 13, 2024; and
         WHEREAS, Just over 100 emigrants from Korea arrived in Hawaii
  on January 13, 1903, commencing the first significant wave of
  Korean immigration to the U.S.; since then, Korean Americans have
  made many vital contributions to our country, including
  distinguished service in the military during our nation's wars, as
  well as significant achievements in science, medicine,
  engineering, architecture, art, literature, and the performing
  arts; in 2005, both houses of the U.S. Congress passed resolutions
  recognizing the contributions of Korean Americans and encouraging
  the celebration of Korean American Day every January 13th; and
         WHEREAS, Representing more than 2.7 million Korean
  Americans, the Federation of Korean Associations USA is dedicated
  to supporting the activities of Korean American associations across
  the United States; these organizations work to advance the
  interests of the Korean American community, celebrate Korean
  culture and history, and promote volunteer and community service
  opportunities; and
         WHEREAS, On the anniversary of the arrival of the first wave
  of Korean immigrants to our nation, it is a great pleasure to join
  with the Federation of Korean Associations USA in celebrating the
  vibrancy of Korean American culture and the myriad accomplishments
  of Korean Americans; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize January 13, 2024, as Korean American
  Day and extend to all those associated with the Federation of Korean
  Associations USA sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable
  event.
