R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas |
|
are gathering in Austin on February 21, 2023, to celebrate |
|
Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
WHEREAS, Formed in 1939, the association held its first |
|
meeting in Galveston one year later; members appreciated that they |
|
shared many mutual concerns, and they committed to working together |
|
for the benefit of the industry as a whole; and |
|
WHEREAS, Membership in WBDT today includes the majority of |
|
the state's family-owned licensed beer distributorships; the |
|
organization advocates for businesses and also focuses on consumer |
|
protection, product integrity, and the availability of choices in |
|
the marketplace; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since the early days of the association, members |
|
have encouraged each other to engage in civic life for the |
|
betterment of their communities; notable activities have ranged |
|
from establishing one of the state's first anti-litter programs to |
|
sponsoring Little League teams, supporting the arts, and promoting |
|
local chambers of commerce; in recent years, WBDT members have |
|
joined the state's campaign to prevent human trafficking, training |
|
employees in ways to identify and report suspected instances of the |
|
crime; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas has |
|
diligently served its members for well over eight decades, and its |
|
efforts have allowed these companies to make an even greater |
|
contribution to the continued prosperity of the Lone Star State; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize February 21, 2023, as Wholesale Beer |
|
Distributors of Texas Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm |
|
welcome to the visiting members of the association. |
