R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Petra Deeter has made a positive impact in many |
|
lives as the founder of the Victim to Hero Institute; and |
|
WHEREAS, A survivor of child abuse and domestic violence, |
|
Dr. Deeter established the institute to empower other victims and |
|
survivors of trauma and psychological abuse; in addition, the |
|
organization advocates for legal reforms to address these issues; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The institute provides trauma-informed education, |
|
resources, and support programs; moreover, it works to raise |
|
awareness of topics such as parental alienation, which involves |
|
behaviors often found in high-conflict divorce and custody |
|
situations; these can include speaking negatively about a parent to |
|
a child or in their presence, interfering with communication and |
|
visitation, and discussing inappropriate information to damage the |
|
parent-child bond; and |
|
WHEREAS, To advance understanding of dysfunctional family |
|
dynamics, the institute conducts extensive research; it has |
|
interviewed hundreds of parents and adult children who are |
|
survivors of family dysfunction; all team members have experienced |
|
these issues themselves and bring sincere empathy to their efforts; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Petra Deeter has demonstrated an exceptional |
|
commitment to helping victims of parental alienation and unhealed |
|
childhood trauma, and it is indeed a pleasure to acknowledge her |
|
endeavors; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Petra Deeter for her contributions as |
|
founder of the Victim to Hero Institute and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Deeter as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
