R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Stanley B. Mayfield III of Sonora is the recipient
  of the 2022 Clarence and Doris Dietert Memorial Award from the Texas
  Sheep and Goat Raisers Association; and
         WHEREAS, The accolade honors the late Clarence and Doris
  Dietert, who were lifelong members of TSGRA; first presented in
  2005, the award recognizes those individuals who have given of
  their time and resources for the betterment of the sheep and goat
  industry; and
         WHEREAS, Mentored by his father, Stanley Mayfield, "Seco"
  Mayfield is a fifth-generation sheep and goat rancher; he was a high
  school student in San Antonio when he began learning about the
  mohair industry by working on his father's ranch; he also interned
  on the Whitehead Ranch, and at the age of 20, he leased Edwards
  County ranchland from his grandmother, Zena Wheat Mayfield, and
  started his own commercial flock; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Mr. Mayfield raises Angora goats and
  fine-wool sheep west of Sonora; he and his sister, Gerry, work
  together, and his son, Ed, helps run the ranch and is a partner in
  the goat operation; in addition to his father, Mr. Mayfield credits
  a number of individuals with helping him learn about land
  stewardship and livestock; among them are members of the Earwood
  family, who assisted him in establishing guidelines for his Angora
  goat commercial breeding program; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Mayfield currently holds the position of
  manager of the Sonora Wool, Warehouse & Mohair Company, which he
  previously served as interim manager; furthermore, he is president
  of the Mohair Producer Board, an honorary director of TSGRA, and a
  past president of the Mohair Council of America and the Texas Wool
  and Mohair Warehouse Association; he is also actively involved with
  the American Sheep Industry Association; civically engaged, he has
  served as president of the Sonora Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Seco Mayfield has distinguished himself through his
  unwavering commitment to the continued growth of the sheep and goat
  industry in the Lone Star State, and he may indeed take great pride
  in his receipt of this notable accolade; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Stanley B. Mayfield III on being
  honored with the 2022 Clarence and Doris Dietert Memorial Award
  from the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Mayfield as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
