R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Westwood Country Club in Austin is hosting the
  inaugural ATX Open women's tennis tournament from February 27 to
  March 5, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Presented by Drop Shot LLC and the Women's Tennis
  Association, the ATX Open is one of just five women's-only
  tour-level tennis tournaments in the country and the largest
  women's professional sporting event in Austin's history; the
  tournament is part of the Hologic WTA Tour, which encompasses
  50-plus competitions that take place in nearly 30 countries and
  regions; when including the sport's four Grand Slams, the global
  audience for women's tennis totals more than 700 million people;
  and
         WHEREAS, The ATX Open features world-class talent across a
  singles draw of 32 players and a doubles draw of 16 teams; the
  competitors expected to play at the tournament include 2022
  Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins, 2017 U.S. Open champion
  Sloane Stephens, and 2022 NCAA singles champion Peyton Stearns,
  among other ranked players; and
         WHEREAS, Highly anticipated by the community, the inaugural
  ATX Open serves as a showcase for some of the top tennis talent in
  the world, and it is a welcome addition to the Lone Star State's
  outstanding lineup of sporting events; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 2023 ATX Open women's tennis
  tournament and extend to the organizers, athletes, and attendees
  sincere best wishes for a successful tournament.
