R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort |
|
those saddened by the passing of Jesus Maldonado of Weslaco on |
|
December 27, 2022, at the age of 75; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Manuel and Elvia Maldonado, "Chuy" |
|
Maldonado was born in Weslaco on December 22, 1947, and he grew up |
|
with the companionship of six siblings, Gloria, Maria, Guadalupe, |
|
Nilda, Nicolas, and Marta; he played on the Weslaco High School |
|
football team, and he was awarded a scholarship to attend Pan |
|
American University, where he earned both a bachelor's degree and a |
|
master's degree; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Maldonado enjoyed a rewarding career as a |
|
chemist with the United States Department of Agriculture that |
|
spanned 44 years; over the course of his tenure, he became an expert |
|
on honey and honeybees, and he was a member of the committee that |
|
named the Texas 1015 Sweet Onion, which is now grown throughout the |
|
Rio Grande Valley; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Maldonado benefited from |
|
the love and support of his wife, Ernestina, whom he first met in |
|
middle school; he was a devoted father to his three daughters, |
|
Yvette, Yvonne, and Daisy, and with the passing years, he had the |
|
pleasure of seeing his family grow to include seven grandchildren, |
|
Marcus, Jiovana, Jaisy, Bryan, Brandon, Brooks, and Bryssa, and two |
|
great-grandchildren, Ella and Logan; he doted on his wife, |
|
daughters, and granddaughters, hand-delivering roses to each of |
|
them on Valentine's Day, and he could be found cheering on all of |
|
his grandchildren at their various sporting events; a devout |
|
Catholic, he was a lifelong congregant of St. Joan of Arc Catholic |
|
Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Chuy Maldonado |
|
will always remember the way he touched their lives with his warmth, |
|
kindness, and delightful sense of humor, and they will forever hold |
|
him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jesus Maldonado and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Chuy |
|
Maldonado. |
