R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. J. Kie Bowman is retiring as senior pastor of
  Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin on March 19, 2023, after more
  than 25 years of service to the congregation; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Fairbanks, Alaska, Kie Bowman received a
  bachelor's degree in religion from the University of the
  Cumberlands in Kentucky and went on to attend Southwestern Baptist
  Theological Seminary, where he earned a master's degree in divinity
  and a doctorate in ministry; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Bowman assumed the pulpit at Hyde Park
  Baptist Church in 1997; in the course of his tenure, he has led the
  congregation with conviction and compassion, and he oversaw the
  establishment of the church's second campus, The Quarries Church;
  and
         WHEREAS, In addition to meeting the needs of his flock,
  Pastor Bowman has held leadership roles with the Southern Baptist
  Convention and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention; moreover,
  he has preached at numerous events, including state evangelism
  conferences and national and international conventions, and he has
  published six books and contributed to many additional works; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Bowman and his wife, Tina, have been married
  since 1981; they count among their blessings a treasured family
  that includes their three children, Amanda, Laura, and Joseph; and
         WHEREAS, This inspiring clergyman has dedicated himself to
  the spiritual education and enrichment of his congregation, and his
  ministry will continue to resonate in the Austin area and beyond for
  years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. J. Kie Bowman on his retirement
  as senior pastor of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Pastor Bowman as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
