R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. J. Kie Bowman is retiring as senior pastor of |
|
|
Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin on March 19, 2023, after more |
|
|
than 25 years of service to the congregation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of Fairbanks, Alaska, Kie Bowman received a |
|
|
bachelor's degree in religion from the University of the |
|
|
Cumberlands in Kentucky and went on to attend Southwestern Baptist |
|
|
Theological Seminary, where he earned a master's degree in divinity |
|
|
and a doctorate in ministry; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Pastor Bowman assumed the pulpit at Hyde Park |
|
|
Baptist Church in 1997; in the course of his tenure, he has led the |
|
|
congregation with conviction and compassion, and he oversaw the |
|
|
establishment of the church's second campus, The Quarries Church; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to meeting the needs of his flock, |
|
|
Pastor Bowman has held leadership roles with the Southern Baptist |
|
|
Convention and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention; moreover, |
|
|
he has preached at numerous events, including state evangelism |
|
|
conferences and national and international conventions, and he has |
|
|
published six books and contributed to many additional works; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Pastor Bowman and his wife, Tina, have been married |
|
|
since 1981; they count among their blessings a treasured family |
|
|
that includes their three children, Amanda, Laura, and Joseph; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This inspiring clergyman has dedicated himself to |
|
|
the spiritual education and enrichment of his congregation, and his |
|
|
ministry will continue to resonate in the Austin area and beyond for |
|
|
years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. J. Kie Bowman on his retirement |
|
|
as senior pastor of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin and extend to |
|
|
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Pastor Bowman as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
