R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Recovery Day at the State Capitol is taking place on |
|
April 5, 2023, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize |
|
addiction professionals for their many contributions to the health |
|
and well-being of Texas residents; and |
|
WHEREAS, Addiction professionals work to prevent, treat, and |
|
support recovery from substance use disorders through |
|
evidence-based services, such as intervention programs, peer |
|
support, and educational initiatives; these skilled individuals |
|
have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the highest standards |
|
of their profession, and they have played an instrumental role in |
|
local communities' response to the opioid crisis; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, the addiction professional workforce |
|
encompasses more than 100,000 counselors, educators, peer |
|
specialists, and other health care personnel; moreover, addiction |
|
professionals work in a wide variety of settings, including |
|
outpatient care centers, mental health and substance use disorder |
|
facilities, general medicine and surgical hospitals, clinics, |
|
prisons, probation agencies, juvenile detention facilities, |
|
recovery housing, recovery community centers, and detoxification |
|
centers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through their dedicated efforts, addiction |
|
professionals are helping to improve the quality of life for |
|
numerous people in the Lone Star State, and they are deserving of |
|
their fellow citizens' deep respect and appreciation; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize April 5, 2023, as Recovery Day at the |
|
State Capitol and commend all addiction professionals for their |
|
contributions. |
