R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Felix Landin Jr. of Corpus Christi, who passed away on |
|
December 15, 2021, at the age of 80; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Mary S. Landin and Felix Landin Sr., Felix |
|
Landin was born on October 8, 1941, and he grew up with the |
|
companionship of four siblings, Mary Alice, Lena, Amando, and |
|
Armando; after graduating from Tuloso-Midway High School in 1962, |
|
he joined the Texas Army National Guard and completed assignments |
|
at Missouri and California; he later served in the reserve for six |
|
years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Landin began his career in retail with the Gulf |
|
Merchandising Company, and he went on to take a position with the |
|
Woolco Department Store in Corpus Christi before working as a |
|
division manager in Laredo and as an assistant store manager in |
|
Brownsville; he was subsequently employed with Gibson Discount |
|
Stores in Brownsville and Corpus Christi; he joined the Gibraltar |
|
Mausoleum Corporation, and he became a manager at cemeteries in |
|
Robstown and Corpus Christi; after a brief retirement, he returned |
|
to work at Memory Gardens Cemetery for five years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Highly engaged in his community, Mr. Landin served |
|
as vice president of the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District |
|
Board of Trustees, and he was a former member and grant chair of the |
|
Tuloso-Midway ISD Education Foundation; he was also involved in |
|
numerous other civic organizations, including Boy Scouts of |
|
America, Corpus Christi Bay Kiwanis, the American G.I. Forum of |
|
Texas, and American Legion Post 364; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Landin enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Yolanda, with whom he shared 58 years, and |
|
he took great pride in his four children, Felix IV, Aldo Allen, |
|
Erika Lanette, and Alex, who preceded his father in death; with the |
|
passage of time, his treasured family grew to include six |
|
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Felix Landin lived a life that was rich in personal |
|
and professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of |
|
inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Felix Landin Jr. |
|
and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Felix |
|
Landin. |
