R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Velma Rodriguez of the West Oso Independent School |
|
District has been selected as an honoree for the 2023 Women in |
|
Education Awards by the Education Service Center Region 2, and she |
|
will be recognized at a banquet on March 29, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Rodriguez is the current president of the West |
|
Oso ISD Board of Trustees; she first joined the board in 2000, and |
|
over the course of her 23-year tenure, she has served two terms as |
|
president and has also held the positions of secretary and |
|
vice-president; through the years, she has distinguished herself |
|
through her unwavering commitment to the West OSO ISD community and |
|
its students, and under her able leadership, the board was |
|
recognized as the 2006 Outstanding Board of the Year by the Texas |
|
Association of School Boards; and |
|
WHEREAS, An elementary school teacher for two decades, |
|
Ms. Rodriguez holds a bachelor's degree in business administration |
|
and a master's degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi; and |
|
WHEREAS, Velma Rodriguez has set an outstanding example of |
|
leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is |
|
indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Velma Rodriguez on her receipt of a |
|
2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center |
|
Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
in her important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
