R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The life of an esteemed conservationist drew to a
  close with the passing of J. C. Romines of Jack County on November
  21, 2022, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Charles and Ora Romines, J. C. Romines was
  born in Seymour on May 19, 1937, and he grew up with 10 siblings; he
  joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged from the
  82nd Airborne Division in 1959; and
         WHEREAS, In 1961, Mr. Romines entered the 13th Academy of the
  Texas Game and Fish Commission, which later merged with the State
  Parks Board to form the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department; he
  first served as a game warden in Denton County, and he returned in
  1965 to Jack County, where he worked for nearly three decades;
  following his retirement in 1992, he served as a special warden in
  Fannin, Lubbock, and Dallam Counties for five years, and from 1997
  to 2017, he was a ranch warden for the WT Waggoner Estate; and
         WHEREAS, A founding member of the Texas Game Warden
  Association and a former president of the North American Wildlife
  Enforcement Officers Association, Mr. Romines touched many lives
  through his dedicated work as a conservationist; civically engaged,
  he helped create hunting events for youth in Jack County, and he was
  a master of Fort Richardson Masonic Lodge No. 320, a 32nd degree
  Scottish Rite Mason, and a Maskat Shrine member; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Romines enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, the late Shirley Romines, with whom he
  shared a rewarding marriage of 63 years; he was the devoted father
  of three children, Kellie, Janean, and Daniel, and he took great
  pride in his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, While the death of J. C. Romines brings great
  sadness to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long
  be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of J. C. Romines and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  children, Kellie Brown, Janean Romines, and Daniel Romines; to his
  grandchildren, Devin, Katie, Lindsey, Summer, Autumn, and Micah; to
  his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Lydia, Pecos, and Porter; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of J. C.
  Romines.
