R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The inaugural Kindness Crusade in the Richardson |
|
Independent School District took place from February 13 through 17, |
|
2023, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize Jane Tucker for |
|
designing and leading the campaign; and |
|
WHEREAS, A member of Altrusa International of Richardson, |
|
Ms. Tucker united nearly 23,000 students at Richardson ISD |
|
elementary schools through the Kindness Crusade; during the |
|
program, participants read and discussed Her Own Two Feet: A |
|
Rwandan Girl's Brave Fight to Walk by Meredith Davis and Rebeka |
|
Uwitonze, a nonfiction novel about a young girl affected by |
|
congenital clubfoot; the book was selected for the initiative to |
|
teach students the importance of kindness and empathy and to |
|
provide them with an opportunity to learn more about disabilities; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Tucker has further distinguished herself |
|
through her contributions to other local organizations, such as |
|
Friends Place Adult Day Services; in 2020, she played an |
|
instrumental role in raising funds for the center's Longest Day |
|
event, which benefits the Alzheimer's Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her dedicated and compassionate efforts, |
|
Jane Tucker has made a positive difference in her community, and she |
|
has set an inspiring example of civic engagement to which others may |
|
aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Jane Tucker for her contributions to the |
|
inaugural Kindness Crusade in the Richardson Independent School |
|
District and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Tucker as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
