R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Detective Tony Godwin of the Garland Police |
|
|
Department is being inducted into the National Law Enforcement |
|
|
Officer Hall of Fame on March 30, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Created in 2017, the National Law Enforcement |
|
|
Officer Hall of Fame recognizes those officers who have gone above |
|
|
and beyond in the line of duty to make a positive difference in |
|
|
their communities; in addition to his induction, Detective Godwin |
|
|
is being presented with the organization's Career Achievement |
|
|
Award; both honors were announced by the Texas Municipal Police |
|
|
Association, the state's largest law enforcement organization; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A 30-year law enforcement veteran, Detective Godwin |
|
|
was assigned to the Garland Police Department's Criminal |
|
|
Investigations Division in 2005, and for more than 13 years, he has |
|
|
worked with the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task |
|
|
Force; he is a nationally recognized expert in this area, and he |
|
|
cohosts Catfish Cops, a podcast featuring true stories about |
|
|
predators and how cases are solved; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Tony Godwin's tireless efforts have greatly |
|
|
benefited the residents of Garland and the North Texas region and |
|
|
earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow officers, and he |
|
|
may indeed take great pride in this prestigious honor; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Detective Tony Godwin of the |
|
|
Garland Police Department on his induction into the National Law |
|
|
Enforcement Officer Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Detective Godwin as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
