R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Detective Tony Godwin of the Garland Police
  Department is being inducted into the National Law Enforcement
  Officer Hall of Fame on March 30, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Created in 2017, the National Law Enforcement
  Officer Hall of Fame recognizes those officers who have gone above
  and beyond in the line of duty to make a positive difference in
  their communities; in addition to his induction, Detective Godwin
  is being presented with the organization's Career Achievement
  Award; both honors were announced by the Texas Municipal Police
  Association, the state's largest law enforcement organization; and
         WHEREAS, A 30-year law enforcement veteran, Detective Godwin
  was assigned to the Garland Police Department's Criminal
  Investigations Division in 2005, and for more than 13 years, he has
  worked with the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task
  Force; he is a nationally recognized expert in this area, and he
  cohosts Catfish Cops, a podcast featuring true stories about
  predators and how cases are solved; and
         WHEREAS, Tony Godwin's tireless efforts have greatly
  benefited the residents of Garland and the North Texas region and
  earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow officers, and he
  may indeed take great pride in this prestigious honor; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Detective Tony Godwin of the
  Garland Police Department on his induction into the National Law
  Enforcement Officer Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Detective Godwin as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
