R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Fred Meyers of Bridgeport on March 26, 2023, at the age
  of 71; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Howard and Martha Meyers, Fred Meyers was
  born in Olney on September 10, 1951, and he grew up with the
  companionship of three siblings, Jimmy, Cathy, and Susie; he
  graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1970 and went on to earn a
  bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University; and
         WHEREAS, After college, Mr. Meyers returned home to
  Bridgeport and began working at his family's insurance company; he
  went on to own his own business for many years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Meyers was very active in the Bridgeport
  community; he gave generously of his time to numerous organizations
  and boards, including the Bridgeport Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge
  of Bridgeport, and the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone board, and
  he held leadership positions with the Bridgeport Chamber of
  Commerce, the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation board,
  and the Bridgeport Planning and Zoning Commission; in recognition
  of his many contributions, he was named Bridgeport Citizen of the
  Year in 1980 and was inducted into the Bridgeport High School Wall
  of Fame; moreover, he was a valued member of First Presbyterian
  Church of Bridgeport, where he served as an elder; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Meyers enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Cindy, with whom he shared 50 years of
  marriage; he was the proud father of two children, Matt and
  Meredith, and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of
  watching his family grow to include five grandchildren, Averie,
  Jace, Jack, Bransen, and Colt; in his leisure time, he enjoyed
  hunting, golfing, attending his grandchildren's events, and
  cheering on the Chicago Bulls; and
         WHEREAS, Fred Meyers lived a life that was rich in family,
  friends, and community service, and those who were privileged to
  share in his love and affection will forever hold him close in their
  hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Fred Meyers and extend
  sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Fred
  Meyers.
