R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The passing of Claud Barton Jacobs on February 27,
  2023, at the age of 80, concluded a remarkable life of service to
  the Victoria community; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Yoakum on July 14, 1942, Claud Jacobs was the
  son of Claud John Jacobs and Anna Rose Barton Jacobs; he graduated
  from St. Joseph High School in 1960 and went on to earn a bachelor's
  degree from The University of Texas at Austin, where he was senior
  class president; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jacobs embarked on a 45-year career in insurance
  and financial services in 1964, and he eventually went into
  business for himself, forming Jacobs Insurance, which became
  Jacobs-Weber Insurance; he was later a founding partner of
  LodeStone Financial Services; and
         WHEREAS, In 1972, Mr. Jacobs helped establish Bluebonnet
  Youth Ranch, a private care facility and long-term residential home
  for mothers and families in need; over the years, it has housed more
  than 600 children, and he had an active role with the organization,
  helping raise millions of dollars at its annual golf tournament
  fundraiser and serving as a house parent, cook, and tour guide;
  along the way, he helped start an endowment fund for the University
  of Houston-Victoria athletic program and gave generously of his
  time and talents to several charitable organizations, including the
  Boy Scouts Troop 110 of Victoria; he was recognized as a Knight of
  St. Gregory by Pope John Paul II for outstanding community service
  and received the South Texas Council of Boy Scouts of America
  Distinguished Citizen Award in 2018; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jacobs married Mary Virginia Mason in Kerrville
  on June 6, 1964, and the couple shared a fulfilling marriage that
  spanned nearly six decades; he took great pride in his children,
  Todd and Tonya, and his grandchildren, Zachary and Jenna; and
         WHEREAS, An engaged citizen, a devoted family man, and an
  admired business leader, Claud Jacobs lived a rich and purposeful
  life, and he will forever be remembered with deep affection by those
  who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Claud Barton Jacobs
  and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Claud
  Jacobs.
