R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Corbett Howard retired from the City of Celina on
  June 15, 2022, drawing to a close more than two decades of exemplary
  service; and
         WHEREAS, First elected to the city council in 1999,
  Mr. Howard was elected mayor in 2002 and served three terms; he also
  led the Celina Economic Development Corporation as its executive
  director from 2008 to 2018, and he retired as the city's director of
  business and government affairs; in addition to his public service,
  he is a successful developer of commercial and residential
  projects; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Roswell, New Mexico, Corbett Howard earned
  his bachelor's degree in history and political science from
  Southern Nazarene University; a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army,
  he graduated as an engineer from Officer Candidate School at Fort
  Belvoir, Virginia, and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970; his
  military decorations include the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, and
  the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Howard has further contributed to his community
  as a board member for the Upper Trinity Regional Water District, the
  McKinney Urban Transit District, and the Military Warriors Support
  Foundation, and he has been active with the Collin County Coalition
  for Better Government, the Preston Trail Rotary Club, and the
  Celina Chamber of Commerce; a longtime member of the Republican
  Party, he has served as PAC chair of the Collin County Conservative
  Republicans, attended nine state GOP conventions as a delegate, and
  managed the campaign of a candidate for the U.S. Senate; he is also
  a man of deep religious faith and a charter member of Stonebriar
  Community Church; and
         WHEREAS, Corbett Howard may reflect with pride on all that he
  has accomplished in behalf of his community and take satisfaction
  in knowing that his contributions will continue to benefit his
  fellow citizens for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Corbett Howard for his many years of
  service to the City of Celina and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Howard as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
