R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Andrea Linette Rodriguez won first place in the
  Elementary School Level category at the 2023 Being Bilingual Essay
  Competition hosted by the National Association for Bilingual
  Education; and
         WHEREAS, A third-grade student at Sanchez Elementary School
  in the McAllen Independent School District, Andrea was selected as
  the winner for her essay titled "The Language of Home," which
  describes her experiences growing up in a bilingual environment; in
  addition, she was invited to read her essay in both English and
  Spanish at the NABE 2023 Awards Luncheon in Portland, Oregon; and
         WHEREAS, Andrea is currently enrolled in a dual-language
  class at Sanchez Elementary; first established in 2013, the
  school's dual-language program teaches students how to read, write,
  and speak in both English and Spanish; and
         WHEREAS, With her fine showing in the Being Bilingual Essay
  Competition, Andrea Rodriguez has brought great credit to her
  school and her community, and she may indeed take pride in a job
  well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Andrea Linette Rodriguez on
  winning first place in the Elementary School Level category at the
  2023 Being Bilingual Essay Competition and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Andrea Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
