R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Andrea Linette Rodriguez won first place in the |
|
Elementary School Level category at the 2023 Being Bilingual Essay |
|
Competition hosted by the National Association for Bilingual |
|
Education; and |
|
WHEREAS, A third-grade student at Sanchez Elementary School |
|
in the McAllen Independent School District, Andrea was selected as |
|
the winner for her essay titled "The Language of Home," which |
|
describes her experiences growing up in a bilingual environment; in |
|
addition, she was invited to read her essay in both English and |
|
Spanish at the NABE 2023 Awards Luncheon in Portland, Oregon; and |
|
WHEREAS, Andrea is currently enrolled in a dual-language |
|
class at Sanchez Elementary; first established in 2013, the |
|
school's dual-language program teaches students how to read, write, |
|
and speak in both English and Spanish; and |
|
WHEREAS, With her fine showing in the Being Bilingual Essay |
|
Competition, Andrea Rodriguez has brought great credit to her |
|
school and her community, and she may indeed take pride in a job |
|
well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Andrea Linette Rodriguez on |
|
winning first place in the Elementary School Level category at the |
|
2023 Being Bilingual Essay Competition and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Andrea Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
