R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Billy Braun, a student at Veterans Memorial High |
|
|
School in San Antonio, won first place in the Chemistry 1 category |
|
|
at the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad held at St. Mary's |
|
|
University on March 24, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the American Chemical Society, the |
|
|
Chemistry Olympiad is a multitiered competition designed to foster |
|
|
interest and promote achievement in high school chemistry; all high |
|
|
school students are invited to participate in local Chemistry |
|
|
Olympiad competitions, and the top performers at the local level |
|
|
advance to the National Chemistry Olympiad Exam, which is |
|
|
administered to more than 1,000 students from across the country; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With his first-place finish at the local contest at |
|
|
St. Mary's University, Billy Braun joined a select group of |
|
|
talented young men and women who qualified to compete in the |
|
|
National Olympiad; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This impressive young Texan has won great |
|
|
distinction for himself and his school, and the skill, discipline, |
|
|
and determination he has demonstrated are certain to serve him well |
|
|
in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Billy Braun on placing first in the |
|
|
Chemistry 1 category at the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all his |
|
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Braun as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
