H.R. No. 1276

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Hiral and Chandresh Patel have demonstrated great
kindness toward a family in need by welcoming a child, Gaddiel
Esponilla, into their home and into their hearts; and
WHEREAS, Gaddiel Esponilla tragically lost his mother, Sitti
  Esponilla, on May 25, 2020, only two weeks after his birth;
Gaddiel's father, Rem Esponilla, had no relatives in the United
States and found himself unable to care for the newborn and the
Esponillas' other child, Lana, after his wife's death; and
WHEREAS, Hiral Patel, a friend of Sitti Esponilla who worked
with her at Memorial Hermann Hospital, stepped forward to care for
Gaddiel on the day that Mrs. Esponilla was hospitalized; she and
her husband, Chandresh Patel, are the parents of three children,
Neelam, Diya, and Adarsh, and they have devoted themselves to
providing for Gaddiel just as they have for their own family; and
WHEREAS, After COVID-19 travel restrictions were lifted, Rem
Esponilla's sister and Sitti Esponilla's mother were able to come to
the United States from the Philippines and take over as Gaddiel's
caregivers; Hiral and Chandresh Patel have since continued to keep
Gaddiel at their home on weekends to help out the child's father; as
devout Hindus, Mr. and Mrs. Patel have derived much comfort and
strength from their faith in handling this challenging yet
rewarding situation, and the temple of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan
Mandir in Houston also served as an invaluable resource to the
Esponilla family by assisting with the funeral arrangements for
  Mrs. Esponilla; and
WHEREAS, Through their act of compassion, Hiral and Chandresh
Patel have made a profound difference in the lives of a family
coping with an unimaginable tragedy, and they have set an inspiring
example for their fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Hiral and Chandresh Patel for helping
the Esponilla family in their time of mourning and extend to Mr. and
Mrs. Patel sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Patel as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
