R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' basketball team of Harvest Christian
  Academy in Edinburg brought its season to a triumphant close by
  winning the 2023 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools
  1A state championship; and
         WHEREAS, Following an impressive performance during the
  regular season that yielded the district title, Harvest Christian
  continued to excel in the playoffs, besting Faith Academy of
  Victoria, Heritage School of Fredericksburg, and Covenant Academy
  of Cypress; making its second straight appearance in the state
  semifinals, the team defeated Hill Country Christian School of San
  Marcos to punch its ticket to the February 23 state finale; and
         WHEREAS, The Lady Eagles battled for the crown against
  Prestonwood Christian Academy North of Prosper; in the first
  quarter, Harvest Christian jumped out to a double-digit lead and
  never looked back; when the final seconds ticked away, the team
  celebrated a commanding 81-25 victory, claiming the program's first
  championship and ending the year with an exceptional 13-game
  winning streak; and
         WHEREAS, Ashley Gonzalez, Jamie Gonzalez, and Riley
  McClaugherty were chosen as 1A All-Tournament Team selections for
  their outstanding play; the Lady Eagles also received valuable
  contributions from the other members of the roster: Lexi Garcia,
  Samantha Munoz, Genesis Moreno, Christina Quintero, Kezia Leal, and
  Maria Matus; these determined student-athletes were ably guided by
  head coach Jaime Gonzalez and assistant coaches Larry Quintero and
  Juan Landa Jr., and the squad benefited from the dedicated support
  of manager Abby Torres; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the members of the Harvest Christian
  Lady Eagles basketball team are a source of great pride for their
  fellow students and their many supporters in the Rio Grande Valley;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Harvest Christian Academy
  girls' basketball team on winning the 2023 TAPPS 1A state
  championship and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
