R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' soccer team from Celina High School once
  again proved itself one of the finest in Texas by winning the 2023
  University Interscholastic League 4A state title; and
         WHEREAS, Entering the season as the defending state
  champions, the Bobcats took up where they left off, and over the
  course of the 2022-2023 campaign, they scored more than 200 goals
  while surrendering just 10; after posting an unblemished record
  during the regular schedule, the team began its playoff run with
  commanding wins over Nevada Community, Pinkston, Mabank,
  Jacksonville, and Anna High Schools to advance to the state
  tournament in Georgetown for the third consecutive year; in the
  semifinals against Boerne, Celina won by a score of 2-0 to claim a
  berth in the title game; and
         WHEREAS, On April 13, Celina took the field against
  previously undefeated Stephenville High School with the state crown
  on the line; powered by their explosive offense, the Bobcats
  knocked in five goals before intermission and never looked back;
  the team ultimately triumphed 8-1 and set several Class 4A records
  in the process, including most goals and assists in a championship
  game; with the victory, Celina extended its winning streak to 50
  games and became the third girls' team in UIL history to finish a
  season with no losses and no ties on its record; and
         WHEREAS, Championship Game Most Valuable Player Lexi Tuite
  set the state tournament mark for goals in the title match with
  five, and she was joined on the 4A All-Tournament team by Brielle
  Buchanan, Kaitlyn Gustafson, and Mia Norman; the Bobcats also
  received valuable contributions from the other members of the
  roster: Emersen Norman, Sammy Quiroz, Claire Flowers, Makenna
  Brantley, Ryleigh Stifflemire, Hillary Torres, Ella Norman, Madi
  Vana, Grace Pritchard, Madison Hagenbrock, Camille Herbert,
  Whitney Howington, Alex Perez, Brookelyn Babb, Savanna Knowles,
  Ashland Stewart, Ashton Lowry, Ava Samuel, Olya Huffaker, and
  Charlie Schneider; these talented student-athletes were ably
  guided by head coach Alexander Adams and assistant coach Justin
  Prescott; and
         WHEREAS, By winning back-to-back state championships, the
  Celina Bobcats have burnished the school's reputation as a
  powerhouse of the pitch, and this achievement will be fondly
  remembered for many years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Celina High School girls'
  soccer team on winning the 2023 UIL 4A state championship and extend
  to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Bobcats as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
