R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Riazul Mia retired as assistant city manager of |
|
Laredo on April 28, 2023, drawing to a close 27 years of public |
|
service to the community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Mia worked for the city as director of the |
|
Environmental Services Department before transitioning to the role |
|
of utilities director, a post he held for five years; he was |
|
promoted to assistant city manager in the summer of 2020; and |
|
WHEREAS, Among many significant achievements throughout his |
|
tenure, Mr. Mia collaborated with the council and management to |
|
resolve severe flooding problems in the city; he also led several |
|
projects to provide or improve water utilities in rapidly |
|
developing areas of Laredo, and he was the project manager and |
|
contract developer for a major public-private partnership for the |
|
expansion of Bartlett Avenue; and |
|
WHEREAS, Riazul Mia's dedication, expertise, and leadership |
|
have greatly benefited the citizens of Laredo and earned him the |
|
respect and admiration of his colleagues, and he may indeed reflect |
|
with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting |
|
chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Riazul Mia on his retirement as |
|
assistant city manager of Laredo and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Mia as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
