R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Simon Alexander Clarich of Corpus Christi on November
  18, 2022, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Zenona Quintero and Christopher Clarich,
  Simon Clarich was born on August 3, 1937, and grew up with four
  siblings, Annie Marie, Zenona, Chris, and Christine; he graduated
  from Roy Miller High School, where he excelled in track and hurdles,
  setting a state record and earning a place in the Buccaneers
  Athletics Hall of Fame; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Clarich demonstrated musical talent at an early
  age, singing duets with his brother; performing at countless
  events, he was always happy to grant requests for such favorites as
  "Sin Ti," "Wake Up, Little Susie," and "My Way," and he delighted
  people with his charismatic presence and quick wit, as well as his
  beautiful voice; he was employed at the Corpus Christi naval base
  before his retirement, having previously worked in sales at
  Spanish-language radio station KUNO and the Corpus Christi
  Caller-Times; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Clarich shared a
  fulfilling marriage with the love of his life, the former Norma
  Godoy, until her passing in 2018; he took great pride in his five
  daughters, Cynthia, Casilda, Criselda, Cinia, and Cassandra; in
  later years, he was blessed with 14 grandchildren, with whom he
  shared his love of fishing and golf, as well as 6
  great-grandchildren; he was a lifelong sports fan and especially
  enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and The
  University of Texas Longhorns; and
         WHEREAS, Simon Clarich is deeply missed by those he left
  behind, but they will forever remember the warmth, kindness, and
  joy he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Simon Alexander
  Clarich and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his daughters, Cynthia Clarich, Casilda Clarich, Dr. Criselda
  Clarich Leal and her husband, Amando, Cinia Clarich Montoya, and
  Cassandra Clarich; to his grandchildren, Celina Polanco,
  Dr. Natalie Villarreal, Yvette Polanco, Jason Fien, Candace Leal
  Hanson and her husband, Erik, Marcus Fien, Christopher Llewellyn,
  Krista Samaniego, Daniel Montoya, Alexander Llewellyn, Gabriela
  Montoya, Simon Samaniego, Cristina Llewellyn, and Claudia Leal; to
  his great-grandchildren, Sofia Hanson, Hektor Hanson, Annalissa
  Hanson, Camila Hanson, Derek Montoya, and Callie Montoya; to his
  sister, Annie Marie Ortiz; to his half-sister, Zenona Ortega; and
  to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Simon
  Alexander Clarich.
