R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Cynthia Hernandez of the Corpus Christi |
|
Independent School District received a 2023 Women in Education |
|
Award from the Education Service Center Region 2 at its Outstanding |
|
Women in Education event on March 29; and |
|
WHEREAS, An 11-year veteran of Corpus Christi ISD, |
|
Dr. Hernandez serves as coordinator of elementary curriculum and |
|
instruction and library media services; specializing in reading and |
|
early literacy, she has helped the district's students make |
|
significant progress, in many cases exceeding regional and state |
|
performance levels; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Hernandez previously worked for the Texas |
|
Education Agency, and she has also been employed in the offices of |
|
bilingual and ESL instruction and Title I services and compliance |
|
at the Region 12 and Region 7 Education Service Centers; moreover, |
|
she served as the director for educational outreach for the Baylor |
|
University Center for Astrophysics, Space Physics, and Engineering |
|
Research and as the director of institutional research at Tyler |
|
Junior College; she holds a master's degree in curriculum and |
|
instruction, and she earned a doctorate in educational |
|
administration from The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|
WHEREAS, Cynthia Hernandez has set an outstanding example of |
|
leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is |
|
indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Cynthia Hernandez on her |
|
receipt of a 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education |
|
Service Center Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success in her important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Hernandez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
