            |  | R E S O L U T I O N | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, Lillian Garvens has distinguished herself in her | 
         
            |  | responsibilities as a policy analyst in the office of State | 
         
            |  | Representative Gene Wu during the 88th Legislative Session; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Garvens has provided | 
         
            |  | vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, | 
         
            |  | including managing legislation related to criminal justice, | 
         
            |  | juvenile justice, and family issues, and meeting with constituents | 
         
            |  | and other stakeholders; in addition to gaining valuable experience | 
         
            |  | in the field of public service, she has learned more about the | 
         
            |  | legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star | 
         
            |  | State; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, Ms. Garvens earned her bachelor's degree in | 
         
            |  | sociology and psychology from the University of Oregon in 2020, and | 
         
            |  | she is currently a graduate student at the Lyndon B. Johnson School | 
         
            |  | of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin; she first | 
         
            |  | served as a member of Representative Wu's staff during the 87th | 
         
            |  | Legislative Session, and she has also worked as a community | 
         
            |  | development manager for Family Service in San Antonio, as a | 
         
            |  | community organizer for NextGen America and Organizing Together | 
         
            |  | 2020, and as a debate prep intern for the Julián Castro for | 
         
            |  | President campaign; she is looking forward to completing the Urban | 
         
            |  | Leaders Fellowship program in Washington, D.C. in the summer of | 
         
            |  | 2023; and | 
         
            |  | WHEREAS, Lillian Garvens has performed her duties as a policy | 
         
            |  | analyst with skill and dedication, and she is indeed deserving of | 
         
            |  | special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, be it | 
         
            |  | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | 
         
            |  | Legislature hereby commend Lillian Garvens for her service as a | 
         
            |  | policy analyst in the office of State Representative Gene Wu and | 
         
            |  | extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her | 
         
            |  | endeavors; and, be it further | 
         
            |  | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | 
         
            |  | prepared for Ms. Garvens as an expression of high regard by the | 
         
            |  | Texas House of Representatives. |
