R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Chief Ed Reynolds of the University of North Texas |
|
Police Department is retiring in May 2023, drawing to a close an |
|
outstanding tenure with the agency that has spanned nearly three |
|
decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, After graduating as valedictorian of his class at |
|
the UNT Police Academy, Chief Reynolds joined the department in |
|
1994; over the years, he has served as a patrol officer, corporal, |
|
sergeant, lieutenant, and deputy chief, and he was named chief of |
|
police in November 2015; under his able leadership, the department |
|
has received accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation |
|
for Law Enforcement Agencies and the International Association of |
|
Campus Law Enforcement Administrators; and |
|
WHEREAS, Chief Reynolds holds a master peace officer |
|
certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement; his |
|
professional honors include selection as the Campus Safety Director |
|
of the Year by Campus Safety Magazine in 2018; and |
|
WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to |
|
excellence demonstrated by Chief Reynolds have greatly benefited |
|
the University of North Texas community and earned him the |
|
admiration of his fellow peace officers, and he may indeed reflect |
|
with pride on a career well spent; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Ed Reynolds on his retirement |
|
from the University of North Texas Police Department and extend to |
|
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Chief Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
