R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Chief Ed Reynolds of the University of North Texas
  Police Department is retiring in May 2023, drawing to a close an
  outstanding tenure with the agency that has spanned nearly three
  decades; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating as valedictorian of his class at
  the UNT Police Academy, Chief Reynolds joined the department in
  1994; over the years, he has served as a patrol officer, corporal,
  sergeant, lieutenant, and deputy chief, and he was named chief of
  police in November 2015; under his able leadership, the department
  has received accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation
  for Law Enforcement Agencies and the International Association of
  Campus Law Enforcement Administrators; and
         WHEREAS, Chief Reynolds holds a master peace officer
  certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement; his
  professional honors include selection as the Campus Safety Director
  of the Year by Campus Safety Magazine in 2018; and
         WHEREAS, The dedication, professionalism, and commitment to
  excellence demonstrated by Chief Reynolds have greatly benefited
  the University of North Texas community and earned him the
  admiration of his fellow peace officers, and he may indeed reflect
  with pride on a career well spent; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Ed Reynolds on his retirement
  from the University of North Texas Police Department and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Chief Reynolds as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
