R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, For the ninth consecutive year, the Pharr-San |
|
Juan-Alamo Independent School District has been designated as one |
|
of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National |
|
Association of Music Merchants Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Now in its 24th year, the Best Communities for Music |
|
Education designation recognizes school districts across the U.S. |
|
for their outstanding achievements in providing access to music |
|
education for all students; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD fine arts department |
|
offers a range of award-winning music programs, including band, |
|
orchestra, choir, jazz band, conjunto, and mariachi; students |
|
benefit from the able leadership of Jon Taylor, who serves as the |
|
district's director of fine arts; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD has created a learning |
|
environment that nurtures the musical talent and creativity of its |
|
students, and through its pursuit of excellence, the district has |
|
earned well-deserved status as a national model for music programs; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo |
|
Independent School District on its receipt of the 2023 Best |
|
Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM |
|
Foundation and extend to all those associated with the district's |
|
fine arts department sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
