R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, GSM Insurors is celebrating its centennial in 2023,
  and this occasion offers a welcome opportunity to recognize the
  history and accomplishments of this venerable enterprise; and
         WHEREAS, GSM Insurors was founded by Theodore Johnson, the
  president of the First National Bank of Rockport, as the Rockport
  Insurance Agency; the first company of its kind in the area, the
  agency served the interests of shipbuilders, ranchers, merchants,
  and businesses on the Texas coast; Mr. Johnson's son-in-law John
  McDavid Sr. joined the agency in 1953; in 1991, his grandson John
  McDavid Jr. took over the company, and he continues to serve as CEO
  today; in recent years, his sons Travis, Blake, and Patrick McDavid
  became the fourth generation in the family to serve the agency in
  leadership roles; and
         WHEREAS, Incorporated as Glass Sorenson & McDavid Inc., the
  company was a founding partner of The Insurors Group, which has
  operated under the name GSM Insurors since the late 1990s;
  headquartered in Rockport, this independent agency operates
  offices across the Lone Star State, and it partners with national
  and regional insurance companies to offer a range of personal and
  business insurance services; GSM Insurors has been recognized as
  one of the Top 50 Brokers of U.S. Business Insurance by Business
  Insurance magazine and as one of the Top 20 Agency Partnerships in
  the nation by Insurance Journal; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past century, GSM Insurors has provided
  jobs and valuable services to Texas communities, and it stands as an
  inspiring example of the success that can be realized by
  hardworking entrepreneurs in the Lone Star State; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of GSM
  Insurors and extend to all those associated with the agency sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
