R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Angleton Christian School boys' basketball team
  furthered its legacy of excellence on the hardwood by winning the
  2023 Texas Christian Athletic League 2A state title; and
         WHEREAS, Entering the year as defending state champions, the
  Warriors captured the District 6-2A title with a perfect record
  against their league rivals; the team continued its strong play in
  the postseason and won the opening game of the TCAL tournament 63-47
  against Marshall Christian Academy; and
         WHEREAS, On February 25, the Warriors took the court against
  district foe Texas Christian in a thrilling battle for the state
  crown; ACS led by six points at the start of the fourth quarter, but
  the Tigers battled back to force overtime; behind a stout defense
  and a relentless offensive attack, the Warriors outscored their
  opponents 10-3 in the final three minutes of the game to triumph
  60-55; with the victory, ACS claimed the program's second
  consecutive state title and closed out an unforgettable season with
  a 15-game winning streak and an overall record of 30 wins to just 8
  losses; and
         WHEREAS, The Warriors were paced by tournament Most Valuable
  Player Atavion Sullivan, and he was joined on the 2A All-Tournament
  Team by Jacob Soria and Brooks Owens; the team also received
  valuable contributions from the other members of the roster: Kaleb
  Miranda, Carter Smith, Kaden Solis, Aden Guerrero, Graham Parham,
  Braden Schill, Elan Bowman, Joel Lovell, Raylan Bosquez, and Trevor
  Brooks; these dedicated student-athletes were ably guided by head
  coach Khory Ross and assistant coach Noah Davis; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the members of the Angleton Christian
  School Warriors basketball team will treasure the memory of this
  accomplishment for many years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Angleton Christian School
  boys' basketball team on winning the 2023 TCAL 2A state
  championship and commend the team's players, coaches, and staff for
  a job well done; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
